Steve Crane

I’m Steve Crane, living and working in the Yorkshire Dales. I worked in IT for 35 years before  following my interest and now dry stone walling full time in North Yorkshire.

I love to get out in the great outdoors, walking, mountain biking, and dry stone walling. I spent many years caving and exploring the lead mines in the Dales and have a fascination with the Dales surroundings, the history and dry stone walls.

I am an Instructor, Level 2 and Advanced Waller and Trustee with the Yorkshire Dry Stone Walling Guild, teaching the building of walls, their heritage and ecological benefits in our landscape.

I love being part of a team who build and maintain these dry stone walls, and also love to share the skills, knowledge and interest with others. I am at my happiest when I am outside, whatever the weather.
