Mary Dalton

I come to the Guild from a professional background in trauma and critical care nursing with experience spanning burns, spinal injuries and intensive care, both in the NHS and abroad in disaster zones. Twenty years ago I gladly returned home to my Yorkshire roots and became a mother and farmer. I am privileged to live and work on the land and have developed many interests such as Beekeeping.

Although not a waller myself due to a back injury I am married to a Master Waller whose idea of a romantic day out was to take me up a steep hillside (preferably in a gale) and make me fill buckets with small stones for fillers! I am glad to say my role has diversified to providing egg sandwiches, cake and moral support, and I remain in awe of the skills, strength and artistry of the craft. As a sheep farmer I know first-hand the value and significance of drystone walls in our landscape and am proud to support and champion their future through my work with the Guild.
