John Pridmore

Born in Wallsend Newcastle, I moved to Harrogate in my first year so claim dual nationality of a Geordie and a Yorkshireman. I have lived in Harrogate ever since. I worked for 25 years in Ripon for a FTSE 100 company covering various roles in finance and project management. After leaving I worked in various industries including print and IT. In 2021 I semi-retired to wall part time and have been busy ever since.

I became involved in walling through cricket. As a committee member at Beckwithshaw Cricket Club, I volunteered to fix a derelict wall. The end result wasn’t much better so I signed up for a course with the Guild in 2005, went back to have another go at the wall and it's still standing today. I enjoyed the hands-on aspect of walling so kept practicing and attending Guild meets to improve my skills eventually becoming a master waller in 2008. I joined the committee in 2008 and became chair in 2012. The Guild have gone from strength to strength over those years thanks to the efforts and hard work of the committee and instructors.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family visiting my son and daughter in London and recently our first Grandson. I enjoy walking our Cocker Spaniel, cycling and have recently gone back to golf after being a casual player for many years.
